The Hospitium York Wedding Photographer
Real Weddings, Venue Guide & Photography Tips
Nestled within York's stunning Museum Gardens, The Hospitium is one of the city's most iconic wedding venues. Combining medieval architecture, beautiful gardens and the breath taking ruins of St Mary's Abbey, it offers a unique setting for couples looking to celebrate in the heart of York.
During the last 15 years I have had the pleasure of photographing so many weddings at The Hospitium, all totally unique and filled with emotion, laughter and unforgettable moments.
As a York wedding photographer, The Hospitium is always a venue I look forward to returning to. Its combination of history, character and incredible photo opportunities makes it one of the best wedding venues in Yorkshire.

A Wedding Ceremony At The Hospitium
The ceremony room at The Hospitium provides a beautiful setting for exchanging vows. The historic character of the building creates a warm and intimate atmosphere while still accommodating larger celebrations.
One of the things I particularly enjoy about photographing ceremonies here is the natural flow of light throughout the room and the genuine reactions from guests as couples say their vows. The combination of medieval architecture and modern celebrations creates something truly special.

Drinks Reception At York Museum Gardens
Following the ceremony, guests stepped outside into the beautiful surroundings of Museum Gardens for drinks and celebrations.
This is one of the biggest advantages of getting married at The Hospitium. Within moments of leaving the ceremony, couples and guests are surrounded by some of York's most beautiful green spaces.
The gardens provide the perfect backdrop for relaxed documentary photography, allowing guests to mingle while enjoying views of the historic surroundings.

Wedding Photographs at St Mary's Abbey
One of the most recognisable locations in York is the stunning ruins of St Mary's Abbey.
For couples getting married at The Hospitium, the Abbey provides an incredible backdrop for wedding portraits without needing to travel anywhere.
I usually keep portrait sessions relaxed and informal, often spending no more than 15 to 20 minutes away from guests. The goal is to create natural photographs while allowing couples to enjoy their wedding day rather than feeling like they are taking part in a photoshoot.
The Abbey ruins offer beautiful photo opportunities throughout the year, whether surrounded by summer greenery or dramatic winter skies.
