Birdsall House Wedding Photographer | Charlotte & Oliver's Elegant Yorkshire Wedding

Charlotte and Oliver celebrated their wedding at the stunning Birdsall House, one of Yorkshire's finest country house wedding venues. Set amongst the rolling Yorkshire Wolds, Birdsall House offers the perfect blend of history, elegance and beautiful countryside, making it an unforgettable setting for a wedding. Their day was filled with thoughtful personal touches, from a traditional church ceremony on the estate and a tractor taxi for their guests, to close up magic during the drinks reception and even a few appearances from the resident peacocks who call Birdsall House home. As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, Birdsall House is always one of my favourite venues to photograph. Every wedding here feels unique, with beautiful surroundings, incredible light and countless opportunities to capture genuine moments as they naturally unfold.

Morning Preparations at Birdsall House

The day began inside the beautiful rooms at Birdsall House, where Charlotte spent the morning getting ready with her bridemaids. Natural light flooded through the windows, creating the perfect setting for those quieter moments before the celebrations began. From the final touches to the dress to emotional hugs with family and plenty of laughter between the bridal party, there was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the morning. These moments are some of my favourites to photograph because they tell the beginning of the story in such a natural way.

A Beautiful Church Ceremony

Charlotte and Oliver chose to exchange their vows in the beautiful church on the Birdsall Estate, just a short distance from the house itself. As guests arrived and filled the historic church. The traditional setting provided a timeless backdrop for a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends. After they were pronounced husband and wife, everyone gathered outside for congratulations before Charlotte and Oliver walked through a wonderful confetti celebration. The newlyweds then climbed into their beautifully decorated wedding car, complete with traditional Just Married cans trailing behind as they drove back towards Birdsall House. Rather than the guests travelling by coach or car, family, climbed aboard a tractor and trailer for the journey back across the estate. It was a brilliant surprise, perfectly suited to the countryside setting, with plenty of laughter and smiles all the way back to the house.

Drinks And Some Magic On The Lawns

Back at Birdsall House, guests enjoyed drinks on the beautiful lawns while taking in the stunning Yorkshire countryside. This part of the day is always one of my favourites to photograph. Everyone is relaxed, conversations are flowing naturally and there are countless genuine moments happening all around. Adding another layer of entertainment was the incredibly talented Rich Reynolds, whose close up magic had guests completely amazed throughout the drinks reception. Watching people's reactions as tricks unfolded right in front of them created some fantastic documentary moments full of laughter, surprise and disbelief. As if that wasn't enough, the resident peacocks wandered gracefully around the gardens, adding another unique touch that makes Birdsall House such a memorable wedding venue.

Bride & Groom Portriats Around Birdsall House

One of the reasons I love photographing weddings at Birdsall House is the incredible variety of locations across the estate. Charlotte and Oliver only stepped away from their guests for around twenty minutes, allowing us to make the most of the gardens, the elegant Georgian house and beautiful countryside without keeping them away from the celebrations for long. My approach is always relaxed and natural. Rather than lots of posing, we simply explored the grounds together, chatted about the day and created photographs that genuinely reflected their personalities and relationship. The result was a collection of timeless images that felt authentic to them and to the venue itself

Wedding Breakfast, Speeches & Evening Celebrations in the Old Kitchens

Guests were then welcomed inside for the wedding breakfast before enjoying a series of beautiful speeches. From emotional words shared by parents to plenty of laughter from friends, this part of the day was filled with genuine reactions that perfectly captured the atmosphere of the celebration. These are the moments that documentary wedding photography is all about, preserving memories exactly as they happened. As the sun began to set over the Yorkshire countryside, the celebrations continued into the evening. Birdsall House offers a seamless transition from elegant daytime celebrations to a lively evening party, allowing guests to relax, dance and enjoy every minute together. From the first dance through to a packed dance floor, the evening rounded off an incredible wedding in style

A Few of my Favs From The Day

A BEAUTIFUL CHURCH CEREMONY

Charlotte and Oliver chose to exchange their vows in the beautiful church on the Birdsall Estate, just a short distance from the house itself. As guests arrived and filled the historic church, there was a real sense of anticipation. The traditional setting provided a timeless backdrop for a heartfelt ceremony surrounded by family and friends. One of the most memorable parts of the day came next. Rather than travelling by coach or car, guests climbed aboard a tractor and trailer for the journey back across the estate. It was a brilliant surprise, perfectly suited to the countryside setting, with plenty of laughter and smiles all the way back to the house.
